Baby Vincent

Sweet baby Vincent. One thing is for sure- this boy loves his mama more than he loved me or my baskets of fluffy coziness. Ha ha. That's okay. I'm not offended that I'm not the favorite.  His mom had magical powers to calm him though.  She introduced me to the "easy button"- a spot on the back of a baby's neck that you can rub to calm them down.  We'll see if I have the same luck next time I do a newborn shoot. If it works I feel like I'll become a true baby whisperer.

Someone made them this Toad beanie (from Super Mario) so naturally we had to work it into the pictures somehow.

I love the interactions between a proud sibling and their new baby. She was so sweet to be a helper the whole photo shoot and she's been practicing diapering her baby doll.  What an awesome big sister!

Baby Juliet

There is nothing so sweet in all the world as a precious new baby.  I had way too much fun shooting photos of this darling little girl.  She was such a dream- slept the whole time. I've only seen this once before with a baby so content that we did pictures for hours before she even fussed and wanted to be fed. Too much fun!

Baby Lucas

This sweet little guy had a bit of a rough start.  He was born super early and had to hang out in the NICU for quite a few weeks.  We were able to take his oxygen off for his newborn session but he still needs it regularly.  He was 6 weeks old when we did these pictures and I wasn't sure how well he'd cooperate or not since they're not as sleepy after about 2 weeks, but he was such a calm, easy-going baby and did great!  He has the best lips I've ever seen on a baby and some cheeks that I bet his parents want to kiss all day.  I love doing newborn sessions. There is just something so special and sweet about these new, little ones so recently arrived from heaven.  What a lucky boy to be born to such amazing parents!

Okay I died laughing at how cute this picture is when I was editing! Those lips!!!  I immediately thought of Zoolander but unless you went to junior high or high school int he 2000s it's likely that you wouldn't understand my reference of "he did his first look."  But that's what this picture reminded me of!

 I love how intently he's gazing up at his parents. Just the sweetest picture!!  Seriously, what a gorgeous family!

This picture is perfection in my mind. Not necessarily because I'm some photographic genius because I'm not, but I think this has special significance that Lucas is in his Dad's hands. His dad has recently had gradual loss of the movement in his hands/arms over the last few years and the doctors haven't been able to figure out what's causing it yet.  I knew this might be a difficult picture for him to do but felt it might be such a treasure in later years if the loss of movement in his arms continued.  It honestly made me tear up when I was editing it because it was just so sweet.

Lesa Belle's Newborns

This lucky little lady was adopted by some of the most amazing people I know.  She was a very cooperative baby. Newborn pictures are always some of my favorites because how can you not fall in love with a tiny, sweet baby?  I loved every minute of my session with this darling little lady.  I've got three rowdy little boys and hanging out with a sweet little girl made me want one of my own. I love all things girly and so of course I was so excited about all the cute headbands, wraps, bows and pink. Here's a few highlights of the session with her.

The one pose that she didn't want to cooperate for was this one. Can you blame her? Seems a little uncomfortable. She peed all over her Dad before we got her to settle into this happy face. Ha ha. Still adorable, even if she wasn't a happy camper just because of the contrast between her tiny body and hands and his.

Hattie's Newborns

There is something so amazingly sweet about a newborn. I love doing newborn shoots because it gives me my fix of being able to snuggle a tiny, sleepy baby without having to do the hard stuff like pregnancy, labor and the no-sleep portion that follows all of that. (I've got 3 of my own kids and know plenty about all of that already. Ha ha.)

Seriously though, she is just precious and was so cooperative!  I always love to get one with their eyes open before they fully doze off. That sweet little mouth!

 Little Hattie's dad plays hockey so he really wanted a picture with her and the hockey gloves.
